School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC)

시카고예술대학교는 미국 일리노이 주 시카고에 위치한 명문 미술대학으로 1866년 시카고의 아티스트 그룹에 의해 설립되었으며, 애초부터 학교 내 아트 갤러리를 함께 운영하고자 하는 의도로 설립되었습니다. 전통적으로 Fine Art 분야에서 특히 두각을 나타내는 학교입니다.

SAIC 대학은 예술인으로서의 성패는 창의성과 전문가적 기교에 달려있다는 믿음 하에 탁월성, 실험정신, 비판적인 자세를 추구하는 학교입니다. SAIC의 도서관은 미국 내 두 번째로 많은 예술 관련 서적을 보유하고 있습니다. 박물관, 화랑, 작업실 등 학생들을 위해 교내 시설들이 특히 탁월한 것으로 유명합니다. 현대 미술계를 이끌고 있는 Jeff Koons, Cynthia Rowley 등이 대표적 졸업생이며 국내에서는 홍상수 감독의 출신학교로 잘 알려져 있습니다.
